October 30, 2008 - Vigne Regali certified for Quality Management and Standards

Vigne Regali, the historic premium still and sparkling wine cellar located in Piedmont’s Aqui province, has been certified for ISO 9001:2000 standards in quality management and global food standards.

ISO 9001:2000 recognizes customer satisfaction and loyalty, efficiency, and effectiveness, demonstrating that a company’s products and services consistently conform to or surpass its industry’s established requirements, including continual improvement programs. It is the only standard against which a company’s quality assurance systems can be certified by an external agency.

To secure the certification, Vigne Regali demonstrated compliance with procedures to cover all key processes in winemaking, monitoring to ensure they are effective, scrupulous record keeping, constant checks for imperfections, corrective action when necessary, and regular review.  The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification was administered in March by IQNet International Certification Network and its partner in Italy, CISQ/CSQA.

“Vigne Regali is a jewel box of a winery,” noted Cristina Mariani-May, family proprietor of the Strevi winery.  “Our winemakers hand craft unique wines from single vineyards including La Rosa for Rosa Regale and Principessa Gavia.  This certification confirms the high standards we have always upheld at Vigne Regali and the attention to detail that is the hallmark of excellence in fine winemaking.”

Vigne Regali, acquired and refurbished by the Mariani family in 1979, was founded in 1890 as Bruzzone Cellars and was regionally famous for its sparkling wines.  Today the better known wines that it produces include Rosa Regale Brachetto d’Acqui, Principessa Gavia Gavi, Principessa Perlante, Banfi Brut Metodo Classico, and L’Ardí Dolcetto d’Acqui.  It is the sister winery of Castello Banfi in Montalcino, Tuscany, which in addition to ISO 9001:2000, is also certified for ISO 14001 and SA8000 for its exceptional environmental, ethical and social responsibility.

“Our dedication to a finer wine world has always been more than just a motto,” said Ms. Mariani-May.  “Four generations of Banfi family stewardship have kept that philosophy in focus, building always with the future in mind.”
